WASHINGTON – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) authorized $76,686,993 in federal funding to expand broadband to 33,901 unserved rural Texas homes and businesses over the next decade, U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced today. This is the third wave of funding authorized through FCC’s Connect America Fund Phase II auction. Providers will begin receiving funding this month.
“Access to broadband isn’t just about connecting to the internet. It’s an issue of safety, of education, and of health for rural Texans,” said Sen. Cornyn. “I’m grateful to the Trump Administration for recognizing the critical need for broadband in rural areas and for supporting the connectivity of nearly 34,000 rural Texas households.”
