WASHINGTON — U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) today released the following statements after President Trump announced his intention to nominate T. Michael O’Connor as U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Texas:
“Sheriff O’Connor’s successful law enforcement career in Victoria County has prepared him well to serve as a U.S. Marshal,” said Sen. Cornyn. “I commend the Trump Administration for nominating a service-oriented Texan and will work to ensure his swift confirmation by the Senate.”
“T. Michael O’Connor has served the people of Victoria County with distinction and professionalism for 14 years, and I urge his swift confirmation,” Sen. Cruz said. “I’m grateful President Trump has nominated him to be the U.S. Marshal for the Southern District, where he will continue to serve South Texans well.”

Michael O’Connor is the Sheriff of the Police Department of Victoria County, Texas and has served in that role for over 14 years. Previously, Sheriff O’Connor served in various positions in the Sheriff’s Offices for Refugio, Goliad, and Victoria Counties, including as a member of the Victoria County Sherriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactical Team (SWAT). Sheriff O’Connor also taught Law Enforcement Professionalism and Ethics at Victoria College Law Enforcement Academy from 2002 to 2004 and earned his B.S. from Texas A&M University.
