McALLEN, Texas – The Hidalgo County GOP would like to acknowledge and congratulate Monica De La Cruz for being sworn in as our Congresswoman for the 15th Congressional District of Texas. De La Cruz was joined by over 100 South Texans in DC for her swearing-in, after the delay she was finally made officiated after the Republican speaker of the house was chosen. Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz is the first Latina and first Republican to represent the 15th Congressional District of Texas in the United States House of Representatives. In Congress, Monica is fighting to keep the American Dream alive for the next generation of Texans. For over 20 years, Monica led several successful small businesses in her community, including an insurance agency, becoming the first new female agent in the Rio Grande Valley to earn the prestigious President’s Club award, an honor bestowed upon the top 50 agents in the country.
De La Cruz began her journey as a concerned mother that became a Precinct Chair for the Hidalgo GOP. After attending, supporting, and volunteering for many grassroots events, it was her time to fight for the people of District 15, the “fajita” district.
“South Texas has been controlled by one party since before inception,” says Adrienne Pena-Garza, Hidalgo GOP Chairwoman. “This historic, groundbreaking moment will be talked about for generations to come. CD 15 has a voice and a real opportunity to bring strong, consistent and positive change to the region. Humbled to play a part of this movement in South Texas!”
Monica De La Cruz not only helped put South TX on the map for Republicans, she also made history in a district that most said was unwinnable. De La Cruz is new & strong force in
the movement that never took no for an answer and has become a beacon of hope for the RGV to preserve and protect our South Texas values of God, family and Country.
