Severe storms and flash flooding impacted Guadalupe County beginning on July 5, causing significant damage to homes, businesses, and public infrastructure. The heavy rainfall and rising waters led to road closures, high-water rescues, and widespread disruption across the region.
In response to the storm’s impact, Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher signed a Local Disaster Declaration. This official action marks the beginning of a formal process that enables the county to seek both state and federal disaster assistance. According to Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz’s office, “This declaration is essential in securing the resources our community needs to recover and rebuild.”
Residents whose property was affected by the flooding are urged to report the damage promptly. Reporting damage is an essential first step toward determining the level of support Guadalupe County may qualify for. “While reporting your damage does not guarantee assistance, it’s a critical first step in helping Guadalupe County qualify for state and federal disaster resources,” Congresswoman De La Cruz emphasized.
Damage reports can be submitted online by clicking the iSTAT (Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool) banner on the Guadalupe County homepage. This tool collects self-reported damage information that assists emergency management officials in assessing the overall impact.
Congresswoman De La Cruz has reiterated her commitment to staying engaged as recovery efforts continue. “We will continue monitoring the situation and sharing updates as more information becomes available,” her office stated. Residents are encouraged to act promptly, as timely reporting will play a crucial role in securing the necessary assistance.
With state and federal aid dependent on the scope of damage reported, local officials and congressional leaders are asking the public to participate in the assessment process to ensure the county receives the necessary recovery support.
