WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) thanked President Trump for declaring the Rio Grande Valley a federal disaster area in response to flooding and rain that devastated the region. A state of disaster was declared in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy Counties after experiencing severe flooding that caused widespread property damage to the area.
“I thank President Trump for granting a major disaster declaration for Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy Counties,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “This declaration will bring desperately needed aid and relief to our communities. I will continue to work with federal, state and local officials to ensure those affected by this disaster receive the necessary resources to begin the recovery and rebuilding process.”
South Texas Congressmen Henry Cuellar (TX-28), Filemon Vela (TX-34) and U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently urged the president to support the declaration.
