WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued a statement in support of increased Congressional oversight of the tragic and suspicious activities surrounding Fort Hood, the death of Spc. Vanessa Guillen, Sgt. Elder Fernandes, and other service members stationed there. There has been the revelation of multiple instances of soldier disappearances, homicides, sexual assaults, and deaths at Fort Hood over the past few years.
“At the moment, I have no faith in the ability of the Armed Forces to conduct a complete, transparent, and independent investigation into the untimely deaths of these young soldiers at Fort Hood. As I have said before, the young men and women who volunteered to serve our country deserve more than thoughts and prayers – they deserve action and answers. I fully support the House Committee on Oversight and Reform’s efforts and will continue pushing for accountability and justice at Fort Hood. ”
