WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) recently returned from a bipartisan congressional delegation to South Korea. The group met with members of the U.S. Army, stationed at Camp Humphreys, located within the seaport city of Pyeongtaek and visited the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) along the Korean Peninsula.
The delegation discussed the path forward for the complete, verifiable denuclearization of North Korea and the decommissioning of short-range and long-range ballistic missiles. Congressman Gonzalez has been an advocate for ensuring that national security remains a top priority
“Diplomacy and defense capabilities are key to addressing the challenges posed by North Korea,” Congressman Gonzalez said. “The U.S. and South Korea must continue working together to de-escalate the situation in the Korean Peninsula. Together, both nations can explore options to decommission short-range and long-range missiles in North Korea. I would like to commend the incredible U.S. and South Korean troops along the DMZ for providing a global net of security.”
