WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued the following statement in response to the Administration’s announcement to begin withdrawal processes from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
“While the Russian Federation has been out of compliance with the INF treaty, the Administration’s decision to withdraw puts the U.S. and our allies at risk. We should not provoke an unnecessary and potentially dangerous arms race. Instead, the U.S. should collaborate with key NATO allies to hold Russia accountable and work to ensure Russia fulfills its INF obligations. I urge the Administration to be more pragmatic and prudent in this and further proceedings.”
