WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s plans to withdraw U.S. Armed Forces and support from the embattled country of Syria.
“The Administration’s sudden decision to pull U.S. Armed Forces out of Syria is more than troubling and could yield grave diplomatic and humanitarian consequences. Think before you leap, Mr. President. ISIS has yet to face defeat. Pulling our troops out places us in uncharted geopolitical territory and only serves to empower Russia, Iran, ISIS, and the Assad regime. I demand transparency, a detailed explanation on this withdrawal, and the Administration’s plans to bring peace, security, and stability to the people of Syria.”
