Texas Border Business
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) released a statement following the news that a federal court denied the U.S. Department of Commerce’s appeals to end Census operations prior to the end of October.
“I am pleased by the Appeals Court ruling that the Department of Commerce cannot arbitrarily wrap the Census process up early. We need more time to get an accurate count, not less. It is incumbent upon Senators Cruz and Cornyn to press the Administration to stop the count from ending prematurely. Governor Abbott should step up and allocate the resources necessary to make sure Texas is counted accurately with boots on the ground, not just a flimsy ad campaign. We have a month left and it’s time to get serious about the 2020 Census so our communities do not lose out on millions of dollars for schools and hospitals over the next decade.”
