Texas Border Business
WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) sent a letter today to Ivanka Trump, First Daughter and Advisor to the President of the United States, with an invitation to visit the U.S.-Mexico Border, detention facilities, and children and families impacted by the administration’s zero-tolerance policy after her statement that she is “vehemently against family separation,” made earlier today.
“I would like to thank Ivanka Trump for resonating a message of the need for morality that many Americans publicly expressed,” Congressman Gonzalez said. “I encourage Ms. Trump to take up this opportunity to witness, first-hand, the effects of the administration’s zero-tolerance policy and the need to rapidly reunite these children with their families.”
In June, Congressman Gonzalez extended a similar invitation to First Lady Melania Trump. So far, the First Lady is the only member of the First Family to personally visit and directly address this issue.

First Daughter and Advisor to the President of the United States
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, D.C. 20500
Dear Ms. Trump,
Recently, during an AXIOS event at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., you stated that you are “vehemently against family separation.” First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude for your support in the fight to reunite families and end the senseless and inhumane policy that separated over 2,000 children from their parents.
Further, I would like to extend an open invitation for you to visit the U.S.-Mexico Border, tour these facilities, and meet the impacted children and families. It would be my honor to introduce you to Sister Norma Pimentel, Executive Director of the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, and many more who have worked first-hand with these children.
Last, but not least, I would like to thank you for your commitment to our country. I am incredibly proud to represent a region filled with remarkable individuals like you who are driven to serve others. It would be an honor to welcome the First Daughter and Advisor to the President of the United States.
Should you have any questions, please have your staff contact Chief of Staff Jose Borjon at (202) 225-2531. Please let me know if you are available to visit us in South Texas. I look forward to hearing from you.
Most respectfully,
Vicente Gonzalez
Member of Congress
