Washington, D.C. – Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) and the Mexican Secretary of Finance Arturo Herrera joined the Atlantic Council to discuss the upcoming ratification of the USMCA. The discussion occurred a day after Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador sent a letter to US Democrats promising to enforce a series of labor reforms mandated in the agreement.
“I applaud Mexico for the historic steps they have taken in labor reform, and the recent enforcement budget to enforce these robust labor reforms,” said Congressman Cuellar.“Under this new trade agreement, the three nations of North America will see jobs, growth, and economic expansion. I am confident the USMCA will pass and usher in a new era of economic prosperity. I want to thank Mexico’s Secretary of Finance Arturo Herrera for this great discussion and I look forward to working with him to pass this agreement.”
