Commissioners Court honors two longtime Hidalgo County Employees

EDINBURG – Commissioners Court honored two long-time Hidalgo County employees, Luis Sosa, and Anna Smith, with resolutions for their dedicated service to the county.

In 1986, Sosa began working for Hidalgo County Precinct 1 as a Maintenance/Laborer employee making $3.50 an hour. Sosa held his position for 33 years and is very grateful for all the years served to benefit himself and his family.

“I appreciate this honor, thank you Commissioner David L. Fuentes and all of you for this,” said Sosa.

Anna Smith was honored for 37 years with the County Clerk’s office.

At the age of 22, Smith began working for the County Clerk’s Office. Her first position was in the Probate Department. She then pursued work in the Criminal Department and later as a Recording Clerk in which she remained until 2002. In 2005, she returned to the Probate Department in the County Clerk’s Office, where she completed her years of service for Hidalgo County.

Smith has worked under a total of seven County Clerks during her career. 

“I want to thank the court and my boss, County Clerk Arturo Guajardo Jr., for the opportunity to complete 37 years of service,” said Smith.
