“One of our top priorities has been improving our roadways to ensure safer and more efficient transportation,” Villarreal said. He pointed to the 3 Mile Line Road expansion, which he said has increased safety, reduced congestion, and improved accessibility for residents and businesses. He also highlighted the Liberty Road expansion project in Peñitas, a modern four-lane corridor with sidewalks and turn lanes. Phase one is nearly complete, and phase two will soon break ground.

Villarreal noted that Precinct 3 has been recognized with the Quick Draw Award for effectively using funds through the Urban County Program to maximize road improvements. “Our commitment to transparency and accountability ensures that every dollar is invested wisely,” he said.

Health services are also expanding. Villarreal announced the opening of a new county health clinic on North 107 and the relocation of the South Shuerock Clinic to a larger facility. “Stay tuned—we’ve already begun designing our first-ever Wellness Center, a landmark investment in community health,” he said.

On recreation, Villarreal said Precinct 3 will soon have its first hike-and-bike trail, providing families with a safe space to walk, jog, and cycle. He added that Anzalduas Park has undergone major renovations, including improvements to its boating dock, which expand access to outdoor activities and boost local tourism.

Supporting residents through opportunity is also a priority. Villarreal announced Precinct 3’s first-ever Community Resource Center, calling it a hub for job training, career advancement, and essential services. “The center will empower residents to build brighter futures,” he said.

Precinct 3 is also honoring veterans with renovations to the Veterans Pavilion and smokehouses. Meanwhile, drainage remains a central concern. Villarreal said the county is working with cities, including Mission, Alton, Palmview, Peñitas, La Joya, and Sullivan City, to implement projects that mitigate flooding and strengthen infrastructure.

“These projects represent more than just progress,” Villarreal said. “They reflect our dedication to improving infrastructure, enhancing public spaces, and providing the resources our communities need. Together we are shaping the future of Precinct 3.
