EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley FC announced today the signing of forward Juan Galindrez to the club’s 2023 USL Championship roster. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Galindrez is a formidable attacking piece for RGV FC as the Colombian striker looks to meld well into the club’s dynamic offensive unit and use his strong attacking prowess to trouble back lines.

In the course of the 2022 season, the 28-year-old attacker netted 13 goals for USL League One side Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and dished out a single assist as he helped the side reach the 2022 USL League One Final, where they ultimately fell to South Georgia Tormenta FC, 2-1. Overall, Galindrez scored 24 goals in 57 appearances for the Red Wolves from 2021-22.

The early stages of Galindrez’s career started in Mexico, where he initially competed for second division club Real Cuautitlan in 2016. He then moved on to the state of Tijuana, Mexico in 2017 where he competed with Tijuana Premier, posting a breakout season; the striker scored 21 goals in just 34 matches, catching the eye of then Liga MX Primera Division side, Dorados de Sinaloa.

At Dorados de Sinaloa he was under the direction of the late Diego Maradona, legendary world class striker who managed Dorados during the 2018-19 season; Juan Galindrez appeared in six matches for the side.

In 2019 he made his return to his native country of Colombia to compete with Fortaleza CEIF in the Colombian Categoria Primera B ranks. He tallied four goals in 24 appearances with the club before parting ways to make his move to the United States to compete in the USL League One ranks.

The 2023 season will mark his first chance to compete at the highest level of the United Soccer League as he joins Rio Grande Valley FC in the USL Championship
