Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. (AHSTI) Board President Brian Disque and Executive Director Roberto “Bobby” Calvillo accepted a $40,000 check from the City of Pharr to help Pharr families who were recently affected by the severe flooding that devastated the region.
AHSTI distributed the monies to Pharr families via their Emergency Repair Grant in the amount of $300 per family to help provide a quick solution for homeowners to begin the recovery process as they await FEMA assistance or insurance claim assistance.
The grant money has helped families purchase wet/dry vacuums to remove water from inside their homes, tarps to temporarily cover leaks in roofs, and cleaning supplies to help remove the mold and mildew inside their homes as a result of water damage.
“As of today,” stated Mr. Disque, “117 families have been assisted, bringing the total distributed so far to $35,100.” AHSTI estimates it still has enough money to assist 16 more Pharr families.
