Pharr, Texas – In honor and recognition of the service and dedication of all veterans and armed service members, Mayor Ambrosio Hernandez, M.D., and City of Pharr officials invite the public to the city’s annual Veterans Day Parade and Fireworks. The parade will begin at 4:30 pm on Saturday, November 11, 2017, on the corner of Polk and Cage Blvd., will continue south to Sam Houston Ave., and end near the PSJA Administration Building (see map for parade route). Fireworks will begin at 7:00 pm; residents can tune into radio station Q 94.5 FM, which will be syncing patriotic music to the fireworks display.
Special guests expected at the parade include City of Pharr officials, U. S. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez, State Rep. Sergio Muñoz, Jr., Hidalgo County District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez, Commissioner Eddie Cantu, and Mistress of Ceremonies Michelle Vargas of KGBT-TV 4, among others.
“Veterans Day is a time for us to come together as a community and honor the many brave men and women who have served in the armed forces to protect our freedom and our country,” said Mayor Hernandez. “We invite the public, our citizens, and all our veterans to come and enjoy the festivities,” he continued.
After the fireworks, at 7:30 pm, there will be a country concert featuring Drew & The Dancehall Dreamers at the American Legion Post #101 (417 S. Cage Blvd. in Pharr).
The parade and concert are FREE and open to the public. All media and the public are invited to attend.
