Peñitas, Texas – At its regular meeting held earlier this month, the Peñitas City Council approved the donation of a fire truck to the Mexican city of Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas. Next week, Peñitas Mayor Rigo Lopez and the Peñitas City Council will host an event to officially present the donated fire truck to Rio Bravo representatives.
The presentation will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Peñitas Volunteer Fire Department, 1320 S. Main St. (corner of Main St. & Military Rd.) in Peñitas, Texas.
Peñitas Mayor Rigo Lopez recently met with his counterpart from Rio Bravo, Presidente Municipal Lic. Juan Diego Guajardo, and both expressed their desire to forge a positive relationship between the two cities. In follow-up correspondence to Lopez, Guajardo respectfully requested any available resources that Peñitas no longer utilized and would be willing to donate, and specifically requested fire equipment. At the meeting held on June 7, 2017, the Peñitas City Council unanimously approved donating the fire truck to Rio Bravo; Tuesday’s event will officially present the donated fire truck to the Rio Bravo delegation. Officials and representatives from both cities, Peñitas and Rio Bravo, will be in attendance at the presentation
