McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos, Commissioner District 4, Rodolfo “Rudy” Castillo, Commissioner District 6, Pepe Cabeza de Vaca, and McAllen City Manager, Isaac J. Tawil hosted Consul General of Ireland Robert Hull on his first visit to the Rio Grande Valley.
The purpose of Consul General Hull’s trip was to learn more about the RGV, forge new connections, and strengthen existing relationships with leaders in business, culture, arts, non-profit organizations and government.
As part of his visit to McAllen, Consul General Hull also met with various City of McAllen department directors, the International Museum of Arts and Science (IMAS), the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, and civic groups focused on promoting Irish art.
“In McAllen, we believe in expanding our relationships with other nations. The City of McAllen is an economic and cultural epicenter of the Rio Grande Valley, and welcoming Consul Hull highlights the thriving diversity in our community,” said McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos.
The Consulate General of Ireland in Austin oversees Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. It provides a wide range of consular services for Irish citizens, including passports and consular assistance to nationals in emergencies.
“Our consular diplomatic relations are exceptional. Over the years, we have strengthened our diplomatic ties to promote trade, tourism, and investment and will continue building on that premise. Today’s visit is a testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering understanding between communities,” said McAllen City Manager Isaac J. Tawil.
