The deadline to pay City of McAllen property taxes without penalty and interest is Fri., Jan. 31, 2025. Payments can be made in person, online or via mail by the deadline to avoid penalties and fees. The City of McAllen Tax Office is located in the McAllen Development Center at 311 N. 15th St. and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The 2024 City of McAllen property tax statements were mailed Nov. 1, 2024. Failure to receive a tax statement does not affect the validity of the tax, penalty or interest. As a courtesy reminder, the Tax Office will mail statements during the week of Jan. 20, 2025 for properties that are still due for 2024. Property owners who did not receive a tax statement can call the Tax Office at (956) 681-1330 or go online to view a copy of their 2024 tax statement.
Taxpayers are encouraged to use the drop box located inside the McAllen Development Center.
A Tax Drop Box is also available on the south side of the McAllen Development Center, facing Cedar Avenue. Payments dropped off after 5:30 p.m. and before 7:30 a.m. the next day will be processed with the previous day’s date. All payments should be placed in a sealed envelope.
The Tax Drop Box is for tax payments only. Any other payments due to the City of McAllen should not be placed in the Tax Office Drop Box.
Do not place cash in the Tax Drop Box.

In person at the City of McAllen Tax Department, 311 N. 15th St., via check, cash, money order or debit/credit card. Payments made by credit card or electronic check are subject to an additional fee. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The office does not close for lunch. |
By mail via the U.S. Postal Service to the City of McAllen Tax Department, P.O. Box 220, McAllen, TX 78505-0220. Payments must be postmarked with U.S. Postal Service postmark on or before Jan. 31, 2025, to be considered on time. |

The City of McAllen Tax Office does not accept payments payable to Hidalgo County Tax Office.
