City of Laredo Council Awards Various Recognitions to Local Citizens and Employees

Laredo, Texas – During today’s Council Meeting, the City of Laredo Mayor, Pete Saenz, and Members of Council recognized several Laredoans and city employees for their recent accomplishments and as part of the Employee of the Quarter recognition program. The recognitions serve as a way to remind the citizens that the City of Laredo and its elected officials are proud of their achievements. The recognitions are as follows:

  • The City of Laredo and Councilmember for District 7, Vanessa Perez, have proudly recognized the Association of Logistics and Forwarding Agents, Inc., Arturo Dominguez, the Texas Department of Transportation and the Laredo Fire Department including, Chief Silvestre Rodriguez and FF/Paramedic Reyes G. Soto for implementing a plan with the Texas National Guard to create a drive-up clinic on FM 1472, providing COVID-19 vaccines to trucking and trade industry employees. Through their efforts over 24 weeks, they have safely vaccinated over 31,500 individuals.

  • The first employee of the quarter recognition was presented to Ricardo Oliva,  Fire Driver, from the Laredo Fire Department. Mr. Oliva has been recognized for his adaptability and resourcefulness to the department. He has been actively involved with the development of new programs and systems that have been used in the last 18 months during the pandemic. He has assisted with contact tracing along with the Laredo Health Department, provided COVID-19 testing, and manned COVID-19 vaccine distributions across the city. Furthermore, he has managed other roles in the department such as serving as their Public Information Officer and Infection Control Officer. Mr. Oliva has been employed with the Laredo Fire Department for 19 years.
Mayor Pete Saenz, the Laredo City Council, and City Management recognizing Celia Guerrero from the Human Resources Department.
  • The second employee of the quarter recognition was presented to Celia Guerrero, Risk Specialist, at the Human Resources Department. Ms. Guerrero was recognized for her dependable and enthusiastic personality. As part of her daily duties, Ms. Guerrero assists employees from every department participating in the Workers’ Compensation Program. She is responsible for maintaining schedules and serves as a dispatch for Risk Management Safety calls. Her customer service skills are proven to be exceptional, as stated by many including Councilmember for District 3, Mercurio Martinez, III. She is considered an expert in risk management operations that is able to carry all challenging tasks and ensure smooth operations between the division. Ms. Guerrero has been employed with the City of Laredo for 20 years.
  • The City of Laredo congratulates all recipients for their hard work and continue to encourage to lead by example.
