LAREDO, Texas — The City of Laredo today announced an agreement with leading regional Mexican airline Aeromar that will provide nonstop flights between Laredo International Airport (LRD) and Mexico City International Airport (MEX) starting this spring.
Aeromar will offer the service three times per week (subject to all required Mexican and U.S. government approvals) on a schedule that is designed to appeal to both business and leisure travelers. The tentative flight schedule includes departures from Laredo on Monday morning, Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning, and departures from Mexico City on Sunday evening, Wednesday midday, and Friday evening:

The start date for the new service will be announced and flights will be made available for sale after requisite government approvals, but the service is anticipated to begin by May 2020.
“There has been an interest for many years to re-establish a nonstop flight to Mexico City from Laredo,” said Mayor Pete Saenz. “I am very proud that our airport was able to secure such a valuable partnership with one of Mexico’s premier airlines so that our residents can conduct business, visit family, or vacation in one of the most vibrant cities in the world and so that the international business community can have a fast, affordable and enjoyable trip to the number one inland port in North America.”
“This is just one example of how we are moving Laredo forward into a new decade of economic growth and opportunities. I thank our new airport director, Jeffrey Miller, and our Co-Interim City Managers for their success in getting this project off the ground and just in time for the peak travel season,” Mayor Saenz added.
“Aeromar is delighted to increase its international footprint by adding Laredo to our growing route network and facilitating travel to and from Mexico City with unbeatable nonstop service. We are thankful to the City of Laredo and key stakeholders with whom we look forward to growing and developing our service,” added Juan Rossello, Aeromar Commercial Director.
The full-service Aeromar offers is reminiscent of the golden age of flying in the United States. Aeromar is Mexico’s most experienced airline, with the youngest fleet of any air carrier in Mexico and an outstanding safety record. Aeromar will operate the Laredo-Mexico City service with its state of the art ATR 72-600 aircraft, which are configured with 68-72 seats and have an average age of approximately three years.
Benefits for inflight service include complimentary drinks (including Tequila, Vodka, Rum and Beer), assigned seats at no additional cost, free checked and carry-on baggage, and free access to the Aeromar lounge in Mexico City’s International Airport Terminal 2 featuring complimentary wifi, snacks and drinks.
Aeromar participates in the United Airlines MileagePlus program so passengers can earn and redeem MileagePlus miles on all Aeromar operated flights.
Passengers from Laredo also won’t have to wait for gates once their plane lands as Aeromar has its own dedicated aircraft parking spaces at the Mexico City International Airport. The airline buses customers to Terminal 2 for direct access to immigration processing and is the fastest Airline in delivering checked luggage.
Aeromar currently flies from Mexico City to 18 destinations within Mexico, including Acapulco, Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo, Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido, Puerto Vallarta, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz; its network will cover 27 destinations by the spring, once its current fleet expansion plans are implemented. Additionally, the airline has interline agreements with leading international airlines, so passengers can connect on a single itinerary to practically anywhere in the world at Mexico City.
“Securing nonstop air service to and from Mexico City will serve as an economic development tool for our community by facilitating the transportation of people and goods,” said Laredo International Airport Director Jeffrey Miller. “The general public and business community will benefit greatly from this nonstop air service. Mexico City offers an amazing cultural experience and, as one the largest metropolises in the world, offers connecting flights around the globe. We are very excited to now offer this service in Laredo.”
