Edinburg, TX – The City of Edinburg is advising residents to remain vigilant as a possible phishing attempt currently targets the community. 

The fraudulent message appears as an official communication from the City of Edinburg Planning & Zoning Commission and requests payment for an “Application Approval Fee.” The phishing email is sent from planning.co.cityofedinburg@usa[.]com, which is NOT a legitimate City of Edinburg email address.

While the email may look official, it is NOT a legitimate communication from the city.

Residents are asked to contact (956) 388-8204 or utilize department phone numbers listed on www.cityofedinburg.com if they receive a suspicious email and want to verify its validity. 

The community should NOT respond, click on links, or send payment.
