In an effort to continue to expand city services and provide residents with convenient, accessible and safe transportation, the City of Edinburg is launching its new ‘T-Line’ (Route 17) to the Edinburg Transit Terminal, located at 519 W. University Dr, and its first-ever on demand microtransit service called ‘Fast Ride’.
The new ‘T-Line’ is a high-frequency route that will run through the city in the form of a “T,” connecting University Drive to the Shoppes on Trenton. This route will be a convenient resource for residents and visitors to hop on-and-off to access one of Edinburg’s most popular shopping and dining areas. Residents can utilize the ‘T-Line’ starting Friday at 11 a.m. at no cost until further notice.
‘Fast Ride’ Microtransit is an on-demand ride service with a flexible routing schedule operating Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with guaranteed reservations available for the elderly and disabled when requested 24 hours in advance. Same day pickup is also available for the general public. ‘Fast Ride’ will be “fare-free” for the 1st month of service.
The continued growth in the City’s transit system has been made possible thanks to its support and partnership with the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council-Valley Metro.
