The City of Edinburg made its 9th revision to a local disaster order.

The City Council approved the new order at Tuesday night’s meeting, and Mayor Richard Molina signed it today.

Beginning Friday, May 22,  bars in Edinburg can open for business following strict guidelines that include operating at 25% capacity, limited seating, and making sure tables are kept six feet apart.  Restaurants will be able to operate at 50% capacity.

“Our compliance team is working with locally owned businesses to make sure we safely follow the state’s guidelines,” said Mayor Richard Molina.

Included in the newly amended order are requirements such as mandatory sanitation of tables, chairs, and glasses after each use.

“We ask Edinburg residents to continue taking precautions such as voluntarily wearing facial coverings, keeping a safe distance from others, and washing their hands regularly. This pandemic is far from over. We want to go about getting back to business as safely as possible, so we don’t see a new surge in cases.”

The new order was signed today and goes into effect on May 22, 2020 at 12:01 am.
