City of Edinburg Communications & Media Department Honored with Three State Awards

EDINBURG, Texas – The City of Edinburg announced that the Edinburg Communications & Media Department has earned three prestigious state awards at the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (TATOA) annual conference, held this month in The Woodlands.

The department received first place in the Event/Program Promotion category for its production of former Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr.’s State of the City Address, a project that showcased Edinburg’s accomplishments, vision, and continued commitment to serving residents through innovative storytelling.

In addition to the top honor, the team received two third-place awards in the following categories:

  • Sustainability: Recognizing a feature on the installation of fish habitat structures at the Edinburg World Birding Center, highlighting the City’s ongoing environmental stewardship.

  • Public Health: Awarded for the department’s video recap of Challenge RGV, a community-wide weight loss and wellness initiative promoting healthier lifestyles across the region.

“These awards reflect the talent, dedication, and creativity of our Communications & Media team,” said City Manager Myra Ayala. “Their work elevates our community’s stories and ensures our residents remain connected, informed, and proud of the place they call home.”

The City of Edinburg extends its congratulations to every team member whose work contributed to these achievements and looks forward to continuing to produce high-quality, impactful content that represents the community at the highest level.
