McALLEN – The City of McAllen and the McAllen Chamber of Commerce are working with South Texas College to offer hospitality-training classes to city retail businesses.
The first class was offered in 2015, and now a second class is planned for February 2016.
“South Texas College is honored to collaborate with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and the City of McAllen on this endeavor,” said Juan Carlos Aguirre, Associate Dean of Continuing Professional and Workforce Education for STC. “The effort and synergy put forth by the three organizations will translate into superb customer service.”
“McAllen strives to offer the best in shopping, working, and living. We are thrilled to partner with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and South Texas College to engage and enhance McAllen’s retail sector,” said McAllen City Retail and Business Development Director Rebecca Olaguibel.
The one-day class will be held February 24 at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce. Registration will begin soon, and seating will be limited.
“We are always looking for ways to give McAllen an edge when it comes to tourism,” said Nancy Millar, Vice President and Director of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce’s Convention and Visitors’ Bureau. “All other things being equal, it’s customer service that wins the day. The stronger we are in hospitality, the more visitors we can attract, and the stronger the economic impact of tourism will be for the city.”
