Texas Border Business –
Rockville, Md., (Dec.9, 2015) – Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), one of the world’s largest hotel companies, O’Reilly Hospitality Management, LLC, Hankin Enterprises, and Fulcrum Management hosted the official groundbreaking of the new Cambria hotel & suites in McAllen, TX yesterday. Located just steps from the McAllen Convention Center, the 121-room Cambria McAllen will serve as the brand’s third property in Texas and is set to officially open in late 2016.
To commemorate the event, brand representatives, key local dignitaries and guests celebrated the groundbreaking with remarks at the site of the new hotel. Featured speakers included Choice Hotels President and CEO Steve Joyce and Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E., City of McAllen manager.
“McAllen is one of the largest cities in the Rio Grande Valley, and will serve as a key addition for the Cambria brand, which is experiencing immense growth,” said Michael Murphy, senior vice president, upscale brands, Choice Hotels International. “We are excited to partner once again with O’Reilly to bring Cambria to one of America’s fastest growing cities.”
In recent years, McAllen has seen an economic and population boom making it one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the United States. The city has quickly developed into a major hub for healthcare and cross-border trade with Mexico.
The site of the new Cambria is located directly across the street from the McAllen Convention Center and just three miles from McAllen International Airport. The area is home to over 600 manufacturing companies, making the Cambria Hotel & Suites McAllen the perfect destination for business travelers.
Rodriguez noted how just 15 months ago, the landscape of the McAllen Convention Center area was completely different. Now, with the construction of the McAllen Performing Arts Center and two other hotels in the vicinity, the area is transformed.
“To imagine where we’ve gone in 15 months, to me is really amazing, it’s like a change of season, except that this season is going to be here forever.
“The Cambria Hotels & Suites brand is a perfect fit for the city of McAllen. We are entering a market with a vibrant economy and a very bright future,” said Tim O’Reilly, CEO for O’Reilly Hospitality Management, LLC. “We are excited to celebrate the start of construction on the hotel, which we envision becoming the number one lodging option in the area.”
Designed as both a business and leisure travel brand, all Cambria Hotels & Suites feature a larger lobby to give guests a more social atmosphere; an outdoor pool; oversized rooms with flexible spaces; and the latest technology that allows guests to stay connected while they travel.
As with all Cambria Hotels & Suites, the McAllen property will feature other fine amenities such as a contemporary bistro, Social Circle™, serving a menu comprised of local specialties created by Chef Michael DeMaria; liquor, wine, beer and freshly prepared grab-and-go gourmet salads and sandwiches; and a barista bar. This property will boast over 2,000 square feet of meeting space with AV capabilities for group meetings and conferences, as well as valet parking for all guests. TBB
