Brownsville, Texas – In celebration of Charro Days in Brownsville, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is excited to join the festivities with its annual Charreada at UTRGV on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
Charreada is an annual event that was established as a UTRGV tradition in 2016 to celebrate Charro Days, Sombrero Festival and Mr. Amigo festivities.
The UTRGV Student Activities department and Campus Programming Board will host the free event, which is open to the university community and public, at the Student Union Lawn on the Brownsville campus.
“The purpose of the event is to bring students, faculty, staff and the community together to celebrate the rich Mexican heritage and embrace the city of Brownsville’s rich history with Charro Days,” said Cindy Mata, director of Student Activities.
Charreada is a community-based festival that will include fun activities for the entire family, a best dressed contest, a live performance by the UTRGV Folklórico, and Mexican antojitos and snacks sold by UTRGV student organizations.
