EDINBURG, TX – – A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Linn-San Manuel Veterans Park in partnership with the Edinburg CISD, the new park will provide recreational space for residents of the Linn-San Manuel area, including Brewster School and the various youth groups in the area.
The Linn-San Manuel Veterans Park was designed by SDI Engineering LLC, which will feature space for fitness and wellness, including lighted walking trails with seating areas, basketball courts, softball/baseball fields, children playground, a pavilion, a concession stand, restrooms and an ample parking lot. Synergy Builders of Texas is contracted to construct the project.
“The groundbreaking held yesterday is an example of how partnerships working together can make dramatic differences in our community,” Torres said. “We recognize that this park will spark the quality of life in the Linn-San Manuel community and it will ensure the health of families and our youth. Our unwavering desire is for Linn-San Manuel Veterans Park to serve as a vibrant community showpiece for the many constituencies we serve.”
At the groundbreaking, Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres applauded the efforts of Edinburg CISD, SDI Engineering, Linn-San Manuel Community Investment Corporation (LSMCIC), Precinct 4 Chief of External Affairs, Velinda Reyes and all the Precinct 4 staff, who even through COVID, when many office operations were ceased or closed down, the team pressed forward to stay on track to bring this park to our community in a timely manner.
The culmination of efforts of all is the testament of how a community can work together to achieve great success. “We are proud to be able to partner with the Hidalgo County Precinct 4 to bring a much needed sports park to our kids and to the Linn-San-Manuel community. This is what good government does for communities,” said Oscar Salinas, ECISD Board President.
“This project has been a long time coming and we can’t be more thrilled to finally be making this groundbreaking,” said Carlos Guerra, LSMCIC. “We offer our thanks today to Commissioner Torres and Edinburg CISD for working diligently and making this happen.” Due to COVID-19 the groundbreaking ceremony was closed to the public and by invitation only for limited attendees; however, a pre-recorded video will be available through Ellie Torres – Hidalgo County Commissioner Pct. 4 Facebook Page; which can be watched by our community and take part of the ceremoniously ground breaking on the long awaited Linn-San Manuel Veterans Park.
