Local author Eliza M. Garza was awarded with a proclamation by the City of McAllen, declaring the day, Raspas Con Mi Grandpa Day. Raspas Con Mi Grandpa is the name of Garza’s best-selling children’s book, a South Texas tribute to the Hispanic culture. The book has promoted connection and inspired others to appreciate and celebrate the remarkable relationships with their own abuelos and those they love. The City of McAllen declared June 18, 2023 as Raspas Con Mi Grandpa Day, which is Garza’s late grandfather’s birthday. This will be an annual celebration where the community honors grandparents and the contributions they have made. The McAllen Public Library hosted the proclamation and a story time for Garza’s #1 New Release best-selling book in Children’s Hispanic & Latino books on Amazon.
