Golf courses have a positive impact to the quality of life of residents and visitors to the community and McAllen’s Champion Lakes Golf Course and McAllen Parks & Recreation golf programs have been positively impacting the city for over 20 years now.
Champion Lakes Golf Course has been highlighting home-grown, amateur talent in the annual Amateur Golf Championship tournament, this year, presented by Vantage Bank. McAllen’s Parks & Recreation have been hosting golf programs for local youth, developing talented players that go on to play at the collegiate level.
Thanks to these parallel golf programs and a partnership with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Athletics, the McAllen Parks & Recreation Department will present 21 scholarships to local youth to continue playing golf at the collegiate level.
