Edinburg, Texas — Many Mexicans, Mexican-Americans, and other South Texans celebrate the holiday season with traditional events, but perhaps no other event captures the spirit of joyous anticipation than La Nochebuena, or La Noche Buena, which includes traditional foods, adornos or decorations, and sharing memories. You and your family can enjoy the blended border-spirit event, Fiesta de Noche Buena, at the Museum of South Texas History Dec. 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Returning this year is the popular posada (MarÃa and José’s search for an inn) through the museum exhibits. You can also enjoy a special holiday performance by Edinburg North High School Mariachi Oro and many others, holiday karaoke, free activities, an artisan market, and delicious traditional foods. And, to capture the memories of the event, be sure to take a picture in front of the 15-foot-tall Christmas tree or with Cowboy Santa! Bring the whole family to enjoy the festivities. To view the latest updates on the performance schedule and featured vendors, please visit mosthistory.org/events or call the museum at 956-383-6911.
The special event admission fees are $8 for adults (ages 18+); $6 for seniors with ID (ages 62+), active military and students with ID (ages 13+); $5 for children (ages 4 to 12) and free for children ages 3 and younger. FRIENDS of the MOSTHistory are admitted free as a benefit of FRIENDship and must present their FRIENDship card at the Admissions Desk.
