LAREDO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations officers at the Laredo Port of Entry recently seized cocaine valued at more than $1.7 million hidden within a commercial truck.
“This seizure reflects the tireless dedication of our frontline CBP officers to our border security mission and their effective use of technology,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “This is a significant amount of cocaine that will not reach our streets nor poison our communities.”
The seizure occurred on Feb. 26 at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge when a CBP officer referred a commercial truck hauling an empty trailer for secondary inspection. Following a canine and nonintrusive inspection system examination, CBP officers discovered 54 packages containing a total of 129.63 pounds of alleged cocaine. The narcotics have a street value of $1,730,836.
CBP seized the narcotics. Homeland Security Investigations special agents are investigating the seizure.
