DEL RIO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations officers at Del Rio Port of Entry seized more than $738,000 in methamphetamine in a single enforcement action.

“Our frontline CBP officers remain ever vigilant as they conduct their daily inspectional duties,” said Port Director Liliana Flores, Del Rio Port of Entry. “This significant meth seizure exemplifies our ongoing commitment to our border security mission and to keep our border communities safe.”

The seizure occurred on Aug. 25 at the Del Rio International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck being driven by a 30-year-old male Mexican citizen, U.S. resident alien, for secondary inspection. CBP officers conducted a secondary examination of the vehicle that included utilization of CBP canines and a nonintrusive inspection system. Upon a physical examination, CBP officers discovered eight packages containing a total of 81.70 pounds of alleged methamphetamine hidden within stone benches. The methamphetamine has a total estimated street value of $730,378.
