EDINBURG, Texas – Last week, the Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol Headquarters hosted the second annual Valley Valor event where agents and officers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection gathered to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty while serving in the Rio Grande Valley and surrounding areas.
The event, included remarks from RGV Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch and the Director of Field Operations from the Laredo Field Office, David Higgerson along with a proclamation from the Office of United States Senator John Cornyn. Agents and officers paid tribute to our fallen heroes and had the opportunity to reunite with family members of the fallen heroes.
“Each hero left their mark on the world. Each possess traits that keep their memory alive and will always bring smiles to our faces when sharing their story, which is a small consolation to what we have lost,” said Chief Karisch during his remarks. “At the beginning of every shift, brave men and women dawn their badge, not knowing what fate has in store for them. The security of our nation and communities is dependent on their steadfast determination, devotion to duty, unquestioned integrity, and, all too often, deep sacrifice.”
