Tenth Year Celebration Reception Empowering the Minds that will Lead the World
Texas Border Business
McAllen, Texas – What is “Catch the Next?” For ten years, Catch the Next (CTN) has been ‘catching the next generation’ of under-prepared, 1st generation college students by training faculty and staff in colleges to implement welcoming, engaging, classroom, college, and community practices. All of this is done to promote student success through retention, persistence, transfer, and graduation. Already, CTN has ‘caught’ over 6,000 students and trained over 150 faculty & staff on 17 campuses throughout Texas.
On Friday, March 27th, Catch the Next welcomes leaders of the industry, education, and business to gather at the Casa de Palmas Hotel in downtown McAllen at 6:00 pm to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the CTN work that has changed so many lives, families, and communities. Dr. Shirley Reid of South Texas College (STC), Dr. Ety Bischoff of STC, Dr. Luzelma Canales of UT-RGV, and Dr. Linda Hagedorn of Iowa State University and Achieving the Dream will join our CEO, Dr. Maria Martha Chavez, and faculty and staff in celebrating the completion of our first 10 years of service.
This program ‘catches’ and helps students complete both certificate and degree programs that provide workers, managers, and leaders for regional businesses and industry. CTN invites businesses, industries, organizations, and institutions to support this important work through a tax-deductible contribution or the purchase of an individual ticket ($120) or a table for 10 ($1200). Tickets are selling and space is limited–make sure you are a part of this historic occasion.
In addition to the Ascender Program aimed at 1st generation, underprepared students, CTN leads the way in co-requisite training through their Transformative Teaching Track, and they guide college development and growth through NextEd: Customized College Coaching.
