EDINBURG – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Monday that junior libero Samaret Caraballo of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) volleyball team is the WAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Caraballo averaged a WAC-best 5.88 digs per set last week. In a four-set match against Grand Canyon on Thursday, she posted a match-high 22 digs. Caraballo followed that up with a career-high-tying 25 digs in a 3-1 win over CSU Bakersfield on Saturday. She currently ranks second in the WAC in digs per set (4.51).
UTRGV returns to the road for its next two matches, starting on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Chicago State.
