McALLEN, Texas – The Children’s Bereavement Center is honored to announce a Candlelight Vigil in recognition of Children’s Grief Awareness Day. This meaningful event will take place on November 21, 2024, at 6:30 PM at both their McAllen location and Harlingen location. The vigil is open to the community and aims to support children and familieswho have experienced loss, providing a compassionate space for remembrance and healing.
Children’s Grief Awareness Day, observed annually on the third Thursday in November, brings attention to the unique and profound challenges faced by grieving children. Through community support and awareness, this day aims to help children cope with loss and to ensure they feel seen, valued, and understood.
This year’s candlelight vigil will feature shared experiences, a candle-lighting ceremony, and a symbolic ritual where participants can write messages to their loved ones as a gesture of remembrance and peace. Special guests, including representatives from the McAllen ISD Police Department, McAllen Fire Department and other community organizations, will be in attendance to show their support.
