IDEA PUBLIC SCHOOLS – Camp RIO has been honored by the American Camp Association. Camp RIO received the “Rising Star Camp” award at the recent American Camp Association’s Texoma Chapter awards dinner. Camp RIO was nominated for the rising star award due to their hard work and dedication to help students learn and grow in nature. The Rising Star Camp Award is given to camps that are younger than 10 years old.

“We are extremely honored to receive the Rising Star Award from the Texoma Chapter of the American Camp Association,” said Nancy Mance, Director of Camp RIO. “We enjoy working with children every day to help them explore the world around them. I am proud to work with this incredible team and look forward to the future of Camp RIO.”

Camp RIO staff have a passion for the outdoors. The vision is to provide a quality camp experience for people in the Rio Grande Valley. Camp RIO offers a wide range of activities at the historic Lula Sams property in Brownsville, Texas, operating outdoor education and day camp programs since 2015. Camp RIO is proudly Accredited by the American Camp Association. Camp RIO is the only camp of this kind in South Texas.
