Hidalgo County Commissioners Court approved orders for the installation of streetlights in eight of the county’s unincorporated subdivisions. With the approval of the orders, Hidalgo County is now authorized to work with Magic Valley Co-Op and AEP for engineering, design, and construction of the streetlights.
“These streetlights will benefit our impacted rural residents by improving the safety, security and well-being of individuals living in those areas,” said Budget and Management Strategic Planning Director Rey Salazar. “Hidalgo County remains steadfast and committed to assisting and, most importantly, partnering with our rural communities on the path towards subdivision streetlights.”
The eight subdivisions are: Un Nuevo Amanecer (Pct. 1); Village Grove #2 and Whitewing 2 (Pct. 2); Eduardos 4, 5, and 6 (Pct. 3); and, Huisache Acres 11 and Rincon de Valle 3 (Pct. 4).
