BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Brownsville’s economic momentum continues to gain national attention as recent reports highlight the region’s growing strength in both economic competitiveness and population growth trends.

In Area Development magazine’s 2025 Leading Metro Locations rankings, Brownsville ranked No. 17 overall, reflecting the region’s strong performance in workforce readiness, economic strength, and overall competitiveness. The annual rankings, developed in partnership with Chmura Economics & Analytics, are widely used by corporate decision-makers and site selectors to evaluate locations for business expansion and investment.

Brownsville’s momentum is further underscored by the U-Haul Growth Index: Top U.S. Growth Metros and Cities of 2025, where Brownsville ranked No. 10 among U.S. growth metros. The U-Haul Growth Index measures one-way migration trends based on customer moves nationwide and serves as a key indicator of where people are choosing to relocate. Brownsville’s top-10 placement highlights the region’s growing appeal as a destination offering opportunity, affordability, and quality of life.
