BROWNSVILLE, Texas (May 26, 2023) – Brownsville is listed as one of the Top 10 Best Places to Live in the State of Texas.
U.S. News and World Report ranked Brownsville No. 8 as the Best Place to live in Texas. The rankings by U.S. News and World Report are based on an analysis of public data and user opinions.
To top the list, a place must earn high scores in criteria such as desirability and quality of life.
Metro areas in the rankings are evaluated using data from sources including the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI, the U.S. Department of Labor, and U.S. News’ own internal resources.
Quality of life measures how satisfied residents are with their daily lives and desirability measures whether people want to live in a given metro area.
In addition, the health of the job market and the value of living in Brownsville were also taken intoconsideration, as well as the quality of health care and education families can access.
Brownsville is known for its economic development which continues to grow with the recent opening ofDHR Hospital, the third medical facility in the city. The city entered into
a Chapter 380 Economic Development Agreement with Rich Products Corporation to support the manufacturer’s $124M investment into its facility, located in Brownsville.
Brownsville is home to one of the largest public school districts in the Rio Grande Valley the Brownsville Independent School District, which has 55 campuses, it is also home to four IDEA school campuses and several private schools.
New franchises continue to open in Brownsville such as Main Event which is the largest grossing entertainment center for the company. Eateries such as Chipotle Mexican Grill, LongHorn Steakhouse,Bubba’s 33, and Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse will also open soon.
Brownsville has been able to attract these new businesses by attending international shopping centerconferences where officials are able to connect with the businesses and show them what Brownsville has available to them.
