Brownsville, Texas – The Brownsville Independent School District (Brownsville ISD) announces today that at a Board of Trustees Meeting, held on May 4, 2021, trustees unanimously approved administration’s recommendations to fill three campus principal positions and an administrator for assessment, research, and evaluation.
“I am confident that our new principals and administrator will continue to lead and share our mission to graduate students who are prepared to excel in higher education and successfully pursue career opportunities,” said Dr. René Gutiérrez, Superintendent of Schools of Brownsville Independent School District. “I look forward to supporting them in preparation for the next school year and who will provide exceptional leadership in their new role,” said Gutiérrez.
Aimee Garza-Limon will assume the duties of principal at Lopez Early College High School. She currently serves as principal of Brownsville Early College High School and prior to that was the principal of Rivera Early College High School. Garza-Limon has a total of 27 years of experience as an educator. She will be replacing Dahlia Aguilar who has served as principal at Lopez for the past 10 years.
Felipe Barrera, human resource specialist, will assume the duties of principal at Paredes Elementary. He has been a human resource specialist for the past three years and prior to that was assistant principal at Paredes Elementary and Faulk Middle School. Barrera has a total of 20 years of experience as an educator. He will be replacing Melissa Werbiski who has served as principal at Paredes for the last five years.
Marco Marquez, a current assistant principal at Disciplinary Alternative Education Placement Center at the Los Fresnos Consolidate Independent School District (Los Fresnos CISD), will assume the duties of principal at Pullam Elementary. Marquez has been an assistant principal with the Los Fresnos CISD for the past 12 years and prior to that was an assistant principal at Brownsville ISD’s Lopez Early College High School. Marquez has a total of 25 years of experience as an educator. He will be replacing Celia De Los Santos who has served as principal at Pullam for the last 11 years.
Beatriz Hernandez, the current principal at Perkins Middle School, will assume the duties of administrator for assessment, research, and evaluation. Hernandez has been the principal of Perkins Middle School for the past six years and prior to that was dean of instruction at Champion Elementary and Perkins Middle School. Hernandez has over 20 years of experience as an educator. She will be replacing Pam Van Ravenswaay who has served as the administrator for the past nine years.
