BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau (BCVB) is thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funding applications. This exciting opportunitywill be available from June 28th to July 21st, 2024. Interested applicants can submit their proposals at the following link: https://visitbtx.com/hotfundsrequests/.

The HOT funding aims to support events and projects that promote tourism and enhance the community’scultural and historical assets. Eligible applicants whose projects fall under one of the nine categoriesoutlined in the Texas Tax Code are encouraged to apply. These categories include:

  • Conventions and Visitors Centers
  • Convention Registration
  • Advertising and conducting solicitations and promotional programs to attract tourists
  • Promotion of the Arts
  • Historical Restoration and Preservation
  • Promotion expenses directly related to a sporting event in which the majority of participants are tourists
  • Tourist Transportation Systems
  • Signage directing the public to frequent sights and attractions visited by hotel guests in the city
