Tulsa, Oklahoma–Five of the McAllen United Angels were awarded to be a part of the top 18 players in the Cup Tournament and the Angels won the MVP award for best goalie.
Tulsa, Oklahoma–The McAllen United Angels won their last game in the U.S. Youth Soccer Association Presidents Cup Tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to become the 3rd best 14-year old girl’s soccer team in the nation.
THIS PUTS THE McALLEN AREA ON THE NATIONAL GIRLS’ SOCCER SPORTS MAP! Five of the United Angels won top best 18 players in the tournament and the Angels goalie, Lexi Gonzalez, won the best goalie MVP and was one of the top five.
They recently won the 2016 U.S. Youth Soccer Association Presidents Cup State and U.S. Region 3 Championships to get to the Nationals. They competed against the best 14-year old teams from throughout Texas and 11 Southeastern states.
Winning with a perfect 9-0 record and six games were shutouts, this achievement advanced the United Angels to represent McAllen, the Rio Grande Valley, Texas and U.S. Region 3 at the 2016 President’s Cup National Soccer Championship Final Final tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma this past week.
For the Final Four, the Angels played against the best teams of 14-year old girls from Pennsylvania, California and Illinois.
With the McAllen United Angels being crowned the 3rd best 14-year old girls soccer team in the US, this is an exceptional success story for girls soccer in the RGV region. This has never been done before. A credit to the coaches and parents of all the girls.TBB
