Pharr, TX  – Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley will move its regularly scheduled ‘Meals Under Moonlight’ from Wednesday, May 19, 2021 to Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in anticipation of inclement weather. The ‘Meals under Moonlight’ Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry (DTEP) will take place from 5-8 p.m., or until capacity is reached at the Food Bank RGV. This distribution is intended to serve working families and individuals who are unable to attend distributions during the Wednesday morning distributions due to time conflicts. The distribution will serve up to 1,000 families.

The Meals Under Moonlight distribution is  made possible by the generous support of the Junior League of McAllen and will follow the Food Bank RGV’s standard mobile drive-thru model with little or no contact. Staff, Texas Army National Guard, core volunteers,  and the Junior League of McAllen will assist with the distribution of food. Produce, protein, and shelf-stable bags of food will be placed into vehicle trunks of attendees. Anyone in need of assistance, from any city, may attend the Meals Under Moonlight distribution at the Food Bank RGV, located at 724 N. Cage Blvd in Pharr, TX . There will be a limit of 2 families (2 people) per car to receive assistance. ID and proof of address are requested. All vehicle occupants must wear face coverings and car trunks must be empty. Attendees must not have attended an on-site distribution within the last 30 days. Clients may also call 956-682-8101 and select option 2 for a referral to a pantry close to them.
