The gym at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV was transformed into the North Pole as holiday music played, while Santa sat at the fireplace and hundreds of wrapped presents sat atop tables.
Nearly 300 new unwrapped toys were handed out to club members. Along with a toy, members took a picture with Santa Claus, played games, and participated in arts and crafts activities.
“It’s important for us to make Christmas extra special because a lot of these kids might only get one gift if anything,” said Adriana Rendon, Chief Executive Officer Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV.
“It makes it extra special, knowing these kids are going to have something under the tree and get a gift.”
The holiday celebration is an annual tradition that started more than 30 years ago.
Gifts were donated by local Farmers Insurance Agents and several other local donors, companies and churches.

Since 1969, Boys & Girls Club has played an integral role in the Edinburg community, providing daily programs and services to over 18,000 young people. During the School year the Club is open Monday – Friday, 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and during the summer the hours are 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. On all ECISD holidays and teacher’s workdays the Legacy Center is open 7:30 am – 5:30 p.m. The Club has moved its main site and administration to its new building the Legacy Center located at 702 Cullen Street (Rogers and 281). The Club offers programs that emphasize academic success, healthy lifestyles and character.
