Border Patrol Seizes Over $400K in Narcotics

EDINGBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents disrupted four narcotic smuggling attempts in the Rio Grande Valley.

On Friday, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents working near La Rosita, Texas, observed several subjects carrying bundles of narcotics north of the Rio Grande. Agents observed four subjects jump into the river and swim to Mexico. Utilizing a Border Patrol K-9, agents discovered five bundles of marijuana weighing 280 pounds, worth an estimated $224K, and located two Mexican nationals. The Starr County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Unit took custody of the two subjects and the narcotics.

Additionally, since Friday, agents seized over 255 pounds worth an estimated $204K, in three separate incidents.
