EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents disrupted a stash house operation in the Rio Grande Valley.
On Monday afternoon, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents received information regarding a residence in Mission, Texas, operating as a stash house. Agents requested the assistance from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and upon arrival, discovered 34 illegal aliens inside the home. Among the group, agents encountered two unaccompanied juveniles. The smuggled aliens were from El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Honduras.
The conditions of the residence were similar to those observed at other stash houses. Smugglers are harboring multiple subjects in close quarters, to include removing furniture from the home to maximize floor space. The conditions inside are unsanitary and create potential health risks to the those being smuggled, the law enforcement agencies that respond to stash houses, and the general public. Agents have previously encountered COVID positive subjects inside stash houses.
Border Patrol will process all subjects accordingly.
